On May 11, 2022, COERR Mae Sarieng Organized School Break Activities in festival snack cooking in Ban Mae Lama Luang Temporary Shelterม Mae Hong Son province in which 125 schoolchildren of 75 female and 50 male participated.
The participants were divided into 3 activity groups: Group 1 made sticky rice mix with perilla seed, which is local snack; Group 2 made sticky rice cake for special ceremonies; and Group 3 made contemporary popcorn which is a high-fiber wholegrain..
The trainers explained to each group about the snack cooking, culinary tradition and contemporary snack not well known in the communities. Then the trainer conducted cooking demonstration step by step, and finally, children and youth learned to make snacks by themselves to get more skillful practice.
The success of the activities was focused on the participating children and youth. Besides learning how to do healthy and hygienic snack cooking, the participants enjoyed having snack made by themselves, meeting new friends from other sections and learning a team work through this school break activity. All these learning can be useful for their daily living as well as their future livelihood.
